Hildegard Titus is a decolonial activist, filmmaker,
curator, and artist. Her work focuses
on issues of race, gender, identity, and culture.
In 2020, she started a petition to remove
the Curt von François statue that stood at the
City of Windhoek’s Headquarters in Namibia
since 1965 until it was removed in 2022. Since
the removal of the statue, Titus hosts decolonial
city tours and events with her research
project A Curt Farewell in Windhoek that aims
to shed light on the legacies of colonialism
and apartheid, and how they affect life in Namibia
today.
